This is a lovely restaurant and Sports diner, set in northern Ballito. Their menu is large, with a wide variety of pizza, seafood and grill options, and is very reasonably priced. I had the 1/2 chicken and Calamari combo (so much Calamari!), while Asia splashed out on the Fillet steak (Perfectly cooked!). Highly recommended.

Ballito Junction

Ballito Junction is massive. 3 floors of shops, entertainment, and restaurants offering pretty much something for everyone. It's also got some of the more general convenience stores such as Checkers and Pick n Pay, so you can do your larger weekly shopping here too. There is ample parking, reasonably priced. It's situated on the outskirts of Ballito, just off the N2 highway.

Chaka's Rock Tidal pool

There are two well protected tidal pools right at the South end of uMhlali beach. The pools are quite rocky, with patches of sand, so some care needs to be taken, but they are quite calm even at high tide when the occasional wave spills over the edge. We swam in the pools in July (the heart of Winter) and they were still warm and inviting.

Siggi's German Restaurant

Siggi's is one of many hundreds of restaurants in and around Durban, and in fairness, it's about 45 minutes drive North of Durban, in Ballito. But it's a special place. Special why, you ask? Well, not only does it serve awesome, authentic German food, it was started up by my Uncle and his business partner (both going by the name of Chris, funnily enough), so I guess there's a sense of pride in what they've achieved. It's the first place I ever tried snails (yuck, in fairness), and their Eisbein is absolutely to die for (though it's so rich, you may feel like dying after you've eaten it all!) Obviously they also have excellent German beer and, as the restaurant is located just off the beach, you've got a great chance to walk off the excess calories you've ingested after your meal! We visited it again in April 2022, and while my Uncle Chris may have moved on, it's still serving up grub that is well worth travelling for!
